Do you think Data (of Star Trek TNG) was happier after installing his emotion chip?

Update:

Wow, that's helpful, dude.. in a totally gay way..

Update 2:

LOL.. gosh, ask a simple question, get simple answers..

Update 3:

ashley b, when you say, "there is a whole (real) world," are you saying there's an UN-real one out there as well??

Let's hear your foundations for your metaphysics, such as they may (or may not) really be..

LOL/JK...

Update 4:

gosh, ask a simple question, get simple answers..

Update 5:

...excepting 'dis_orient_ed' .. who has boldy gone to the crux of the biscuit here in this Q.. albeit perhaps a somewhat weightier response than needed, still got the "feel" of this little brain teaser.

No. Feeling happiness or sadness is not quantifiably comparable to the absence of either.

I think one of the problem emotions he experienced was fear ~ because on a mission fear is one thing you don't want to have ~ Also when his brother Lore tried to turn him bad ~ also when The Borg Queen tried to turn him ~ but the funniest bit was at the end of the film when Data finds Spot (his cat) in the rubble ~ he cries and says his emotion chip is failing ~

in my opinion, i admire famous individual Trek yet think of famous individual Wars is basically first rate. famous individual Wars is an action packed, fantasy, blockbuster trilogy. famous individual Trek is an in-intensity technology fiction franchise, and it frequently has a huge concentration on the philosophy of area return and forth, first touch, etc. different then an area/destiny putting, they're somewhat no longer something alike. It basically relies upon on what you prefer (action-fantasy or technology-fiction and philosophy).

No. At his very core, he was still an android. All of his emotional behavior was a simulation of human behavior because of the emotion chip.

No, he cried when he found his cat safe and alive in the wreckage. Because he was happy. And crying because he was happy confused him. Being confused is seldom pleasant.

Assuming he can remove it whenever he chooses then yes i suppose he must only use it to be happy .

    I wouldn't mind one of them !
