Is it possible to bend back the pins on a 775 socket?

Looking to buy a computer, but some of the pins on the socket are bent slightly. Is it possible to bend them back and have it work, or is the mobo shot?

It is possible, but it's definitely a gamble. Modern processors have lots of pins crammed into a very small area, so the pins have to be extremely thin. If they're just slightly bent you might be able to push them back without breaking them, but if they're more than 45 degrees off, they will probably break when you try to push them back. With that said, do keep in mind that the pins are basically just a bunch of small wires, so as long as they don't snap off, they will still work as intended.

You could try a few things:

    Needle

    Mechanical Pencil without lead

Fingernail (that'd be really tough, though)

    Flathead Screwdriver (about 2mm?)

Google around "LGA 775 Bent Pins" and you'll find a ton.

    BUT!

Be very careful. The pins break easily. But, you probably knew that. =P

    Good luck!
