advice on a home server?

im looking for your input here

i am completely open to suggestions the only limit is that it needs to be free software :)

im looking to set up a home server

my requirements are ...

SSH server

File server

Print server

Mail server

i know that these can be accomplished with a Ubuntu Linux server but i am wondering if there are other, simpler methods of achieving these goals

if you dont meet all four requirements thats fine 2/3 out of four would be good enough

or if you have any suggestions for software that you run off ubuntu server then i would be open to these if i havnt already explored these

all suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Update:

sorry, well currently i use webmin on a ubuntu server, which is tedious to say the least

hence im looking for simpler

i know i can google this and find the answer but i want this from your own experience

Here is a article on the free Linux server software. I think that you would be much happier with the Linux distro as opposed to the Windows version.

    Define simpler.

It's so easy to do this on Ubuntu, if you know how to set up these services. I'd go with Ubuntu. Most of it will be as simple as turning on check boxes to have server install and enable the features you want.

After it is installed go to Ubunut Forums for any questiosn that you still have unresolved.
