Gay pride parade question......?
Ok so I know someone is going to get offended but gotta break some eggs.
So in chicago and other cities there are these gay pride parades. But at least in chicago they are not very prideful. It's like mardi gras and the southside parade (southside irish parade in chicago is a huge drunk fest) combined. I understand it's getting the issue out there, but this does not seem to me the way to get rights. I am supportive of gay marriage and gay adoption. Especially gay adoption, every kid deserves a home. But I feel that all these other races, nationalities , and creeds went through so much with protests, sit-ins, marches, and hard work to get there rights. Why is this parade called gay pride, not gay have a good time. I feel the pride parade should show what the gay community does for the nation and world. Not what that the gays can have fun too. SO, question, why does it not seem prideful and why do they not use this time more responsible.
Not gay
But supportive
Don't Panic
LOL the supportive thing is from demitri martins stand up. Way to take refracted light.

The main purpose of the parade is to force people to acknowledge your existence who normally wouldn't. The first step towards change is awareness.
Not everyone in the gay community digs pride though. I tend to be one of them (and I've been to several). It's a great forum if you want to get wasted and have sex in a porta-potty. But it's definitely not the forum to discuss, say, how to further our cause.
To be honest, I think we need a huge convention for the gay community once a year at like a retreat that's just for the activists among us.

People should not have to show that they are good for the nation and the world in order to be accorded rights that are given to every other citizen.
But think of this: those other parades - St Patrick's Day parades, Mardi Gras, Columbus Day, etc - gays march in those parades, too!

The motive of delight parades never has been to teach others that "we are only like all and sundry else." It exchange into and has constantly been approximately self-help. The blatant sexuality does make me balk, however the very reason we are discriminated against is exactly a sexual difference at the start. I understand the place you're coming from, and an evolution interior the belief in the back of delight is so as, and albeit is happening. delight purposes (different than the parades) are lots decrease-key than they was and aimed in direction of households (many times).

We are showing everyone we are here and we are not going to stay "hidden".
Plus, why is sex such a no-no thing to talk about? The gay community is very open about sex because we know everyone knows about it and enjoys it...
The parade is a place where no one judges you because you may look or feel different. It's an open place where you can have fun and meet new people

basically lots of things people do in gay pride parades i think is silly. i would never stand in my underwear on a float myself. but i support it mostly because gay people are suppressed so much just in everyday society, that if someone needs to get on a float or march in a parade to express themselves and feel 'out' then i hope you can understand that

Sounds like you are gay in a way, I have never heard an honest person who is just "supportive". If they are straight they prob wouldn't care.
