question about future of y&r?

has anyone been losing interest in this soap lately?

I think the switch to digital has hurt soaps some. But, Y&r helped keep me going through the weeks for years but with some of these bizare story lines I'm not sure it can surive. Sometimes in the past i'd lose interest for a week or 2 but keep coming back. Soaps are best when the story lines are somewhat realistic. Does this turn into some sort of Alfred Hitchcock show or what?

It all comes down to the writers if Bill Bell was still alive I don't think we would be seeing these unbelievable story lines, his son Bradley Bell's wife is now writing for the soap, now I am not sure if she had any previous experience in writing or she just fell into this job when they got married but I have watched this show since the 70's and it is sad to see where things are going. Christine Bell/Cricket don't you think she would have a say in this or get involved? she grew up on this soap wouldn't she want it to succeed? I hope someone does something soon before it is to late. I am also sure the actors and actress's on the show are having a cow how much can they say? Jill almost quit and so did Nikki, Victor wasn't happy, and Jeannie Cooper/Kay was the best of friends with the Bell family I sure she might have tried (especially if she is anything like her character) I wish something could be done.

I am not sure if it's the switch to digital or just the economic times. They have affected the soap opera world as well. I really think that soaps tend to kind of cycle. I've been watching Y&R and the other CBS soaps for many years now. I have had to take breaks from them for awhile when things got boring or there were so many new characters I couldn't seem to keep up or just lost interest. (ATWT was that way for a bit). Y&R has been a bit "out there" for awhile now and I get frustrated sometimes. But the family story lines pull things back together.

I'm not so sure it digital that's making the soaps go down, but more the economy and the writers strike that caused many of the good writers that wrote the great story lines from way back when the soaps first began to leave.

Many of the best and veteran actors of the major characters on each of the shows have either left because of being asked to take lesser salaries and/or to be cut back to reoccurring status and couldn't agree on the details of the terms in their new contracts too.

And a lot of shows have hired new young actors that haven't been seasoned yet and their acting can't even begin to compare to the veterans.

The poor acting and the long boring story lines that go on forever and ever are what's really bringing soaps down and sadly the long time soap fans are no longer watching.

SO Phillip is home. And the looks on Nina and Jill's faces were soooo worth it. Best acting from this show for quite awhile, Wow. I can't wait until Monday.

Friday was such a push and pull, good soap even when I wanted to slap people. Cane. Lily. Jill. All three of them stood basking in their righeousness. Jill and Lily practically salivating over the idea of gloating to Nina. I loved seeing it all come crashing down. Especially for Lily. Smug, arrogant twit. After having to listen to her talk about the 'obstacles' they had overcome so they deserved their delirious, happiness. Please. They didn't overcome any obstacle. Lily cut and ran instead of standing with her man and his unplanned child. And Cane...well, he let her. Knowing the whole time the kid wasn't his. So, STFU and choke, Lily. I can't wait for all the ramifications of this to sink in.

And then the world tilted when Phillip came out. Bravo to Tricia and Jess for their expressions. Perfection. but was Phillip on cue or something , How did he know Cane needed him at that moment.

I think the acting was wonderful during the Phillip3 reveal. they were all great. I just get nothing from Lily except smug, bitchiness. Instead of the 'How could you' feeling I think Lily should put forth, all I got was 'How dare you do this to me' as if she is the only person affected. .

Billy is such a douchebag. Ohhh, baby's sleeping, time to bounce to the nearest hotel so I can bone the still engaged as far as I know nitwit pretending to be caring for the homeless while I still wear a wedding ring.

I am confused why Nick wouldn't automatically be Summer's guardian while Phyllis is jailed He is her father or maybe Heather knows she is really Jacks, but I don't get it. Heather is the worst ADA I have seen on any show and I am not moved by the plight of poor, comababy Summer. I don't think any one who kissed you could cause all of this unless she frenched kissed her, the rumors have it the dog will die at the hands of MJ. another sick action on the writers part.

Victor and Nikki being nice grandparents together was sweet to see.

Daniel should have told Aucker to go f'ck himself. But I KNEW Kevin was far too placid about Daniel going to the lie detector test. I knew he knew something.

Great show. Friday and that is what you are talking about, the rest of the storylines at the moment are really junk and repeats of others past, if they continue to provide good story telling even that it is one we do not like they might be ok, but the main thing is it needs to be beleiveable even that there are missing factors, like why the heck did cane do all that crazy stuff about that baby when he knew it was not his.but you are right.it is a horror show.

Is starting to get kinda boring for the story lines because I remember the old episodes where really good and now they seem like they drag on forever, it is starting to be pretty annoying.

I've not lost any interest in the show, actually I've lost interest in some of the characters on the show, but it's still pretty good right now.
