Magnetic Resonnance Imaging (MRI) scans show that Gays and Lesbians have different brain structures. So Why?
do bible thumper's (esp. In US) have such a vitriolic hatred of them ?
Gays and women have similar brains, lesbians and men also do.
They do no harm to anyone, so why doesn't God leave them in peace.
Some of my close friends are gay - where does the hatred come from ?

Some research shows that (some) gay men lack development in an area of the brain that heterosexual men have. But other research indicates that (some) gay men have a more developed brain than the average straight man. We are all individuals. For the most part men and women's' brains are more similar than not in my opinion. In handwriting analysis many different personality traits can be seen in a person's writing, but it is not easy to see sexuality in handwriting. That is because there are women with masculine traits and men with feminine traits. And heterosexual men may have feminine traits, and heterosexual women may have some masculine traits. People are complex things. In my opinion, speaking for myself, I believe I have a female brain but in a male body. I am a gay man and I think I was born this way. I see nothing wrong with being gay. No way did I choose to be gay!

Because sometimes a person's behavior can be explained by a deficiency or surplus or a neurotransmitter in the brain, or a trauma toward a certain part of the brain. For example, a person who suffers trauma to the front of the brain (even if it is microscopic) is usally devoid of "human" emotions. They cannot feel happy, sad or love, but they have no problem feeling anger and rage. If a person like this mentioned that they got into a car accident a month ago and says he is having a new problem of beating his wife, something he never thought of doing before, a good psychologist would wonder if damage was done to the frontal lobe of his cerebral cortex and order an mri. Another example is if a person complains to her therapist that she has been depressed for 2 months and that it seemed to come out of nowhere, a good psychologist would rule out the depletion of the neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine. These are believed to be linked with some cases of depression. If this is found to be the case, then the therapist would prescribe drugs that increase the availability of neurotransmitters at the synaptic junction by blocking the reuptake channel.

I think the hatred comes from adherence to "the word"..it's in the bible about "a man may not lay down with a man".
At the time the bible was written children were the next generation of the tribe and gay men would cut down the number of children to pass traditions and goods to.
Times have changed but "the word" hasn't,(although even during the times when the bible was being written it was being constantly edited to fit the traditions of the times).
It's not just gays who are hated by the religious.
Because of the bible transsexuals are hated too.
Did you know a recent study has shown that trans-people tend to have the brain structure of the sex they know themselves to be and not the birth-gender they may be.

The hatred comes from some old testament BS and modern christian hypocrites grasp it to their hearts like a treasured sanctity. Funny thing is that they do NOT practice what they preach. If a few, and they are very few, passages regarding homosexuality are to be treated as in viable, how do they miss the texts that forbid the cutting of hair or beard, that many offenses from mouthy children to infidelity require stoning at the temple steps, that a single mother may prostitute herself to soldiers and foreigners to provide for their children. A persons sexuality is their own business, and I feel it speaks to the deeply hidden voyeuristic tendencies of the religious right that they feel they need to know what others are doing in their bedrooms.

I think the hatred of lesbians and gays is because they do not breed more tithe payers for the different church heirarchy's. I know that sounds a little off-the cuff, but think about it this way...
From a hundred years ago through the history of humanity, survival has been the key. Death rates were extremely high. Men and women who did not breed were robbing churches of the iincome they desperately needed.
More recently, sex and sexuality have been groomed for political manipulation by the neocons.

I asked a question similar to this one to-day. I received a lot of answers but no-one addressed the actual issues.
I am totally heterosexual, and I am bemused by these continuous debates. There was one on tv this morning and the Bishop of Rochester has said homosexuals should repent. What the heck does it matter about their sexuality. Who cares or why? It's not as if it was compulsory. How does it affect anyone else? They don't negatively affect me, my family, my community, or as far as I can see, the whole world.
It's not as if the world was short of people and we needed a breeding program.
As far as devout religious persons go, as long as they follow their beliefs why should they care what anyone else does if it doesn't impinge on them personally?
Perhaps they are frightened that it WILL become compulsory.

Jesus was very accepting of the Centurian and healed his boy sex slave (the real meaning of the Greek word "pais" ) - as well as being accepting of prostitutes, gentiles, women, tax collectors - and many other groups that the Jewish Law as described in the Old testament condemned.
It's a pity that so many christians choose to be so un-christ-like when dealing with people of other lifestyles.
Being unkind to strangers was the real sin of sodom.

God does leave them in peace because there is no such thing. There is only people behaving atrociously, and making loads of excuses for it.
