A question about NYC?

Okay well a few things....

1) Does anyone know where Koreatown is? I really want to go there to by this CD by one of my favorite Korean artists and also possibly eat some Korean food? Do you know any good places for that?

2)Any good places you can tell me of (and where they are) to eat? They can't be too expensive but they don't have to be dirt cheap.

3)What are some fun things to do in NYC that you usually don't think of? Or anything you can think of that's free?

I need to know where all the stuff you suggest is (like what it's next to or what street its on etc so I can find it on the subway map).

Thanks in advance! I will pick a best answer!

First of all, in regards to Koreatown. It is located on 31st Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue, two blocks south of the Empire State Building. The nearest subway station is the 34th Street Herald Square station on the "B", "D", "F", "V", "N", "R", "Q" and "W" lines (Orange and Yellow Lines on the subway map).

the main drag (where all the shops and restaurants are) of Koreatown is West 32nd Street from Broadway to 5th Avenue.

all you need to do is walk up and down the street, and you will quickly find places to buy your CD, as well as a restaurant you can afford (just read the menus...).

the closest subway is 34th Street / Herald Square, where the B/D/F and N/Q/R/W trains meet. it's also a 5 minute walk to Penn Station and the 1/2/3 and A/C/E trains to the west, and to the 33rd Street station of the 4/5/6 trains to the east.

and you are almost literally across the street from the main Macy's department store, and Manhattan Mall.

everyone answered pretty well, but to answer your question about the CD in K-Town: AM Music is there and they sell CDs & stuff but it's very overpriced. there's also a place Koryo Books which sells kpop CDs but it's also overpriced, like $25 for a CD.

a restaurant I can recommend in K-town is woorijip. it's buffet-style and it's cheap & delicious. kum gang san is on the more expensive side, but also cheap. try to get lunch specials haha~~

in my opinion, tho, you would be better off getting CDs/eating korean food in Flushing, Queens (about 30mins train ride from K-town, take the N/Q/R/W one stop then transfer to the 7 at "42nd St - Times Square" and take it all the way to the last stop "Flushing - Main Street"). it's a very korean & also very chinese area, and they have awesome restaurants, lots of bubble tea shops, and cheaper places to get kpop CDs. :)

also cheap to buy from yesasia.com... but I wouldn't say do that for just 1 CD because w/ shipping it will turn out to be the same price as in a store..

    good luck!

Just to add a couple more things -

    For free stuff: http://www.freenyc.net/

    http://www.clubfreetime.com/

    http://www.freeinnyc.net/

    http://www.ny.com/museums/free.html

    http://www.yelp.com/events/new-york-free-nyc-desse...

And pick up a Village Voice when you get into Manhattan to check out for more things - not all will be free. You can find a Voice at most corners. Just look for the red plastic newspaper holders on corners. It's a free paper.

    Street fairs:

    http://www.nycstreetfairs.com/sched.html

For places to eat, most places have the menu posted on the window so if you see something that you like the looks of while walking around, just go up and check out the window. If no menu, just go in and ask to see one. You don't have to get seated to see ir or stay if you don't like what they have to offer.
