What happens if you sign an employment contract and break it?

    Your employer can sue you for his economic damages, so long as the term of the contract that you broke is not itself illegal or counter to public policy.

    The contract should spell out the consequences if either party breaks the contract. If you fail to pay as agreed in the contract they can sue you.
