Is it possible for Federer and Nadal to play double together?

Don't you think it is exciting to see both of them at the same side of the court?

Substantiate your answer (Yes/No) with good arguments. The best wins!

Well, putting Federer and Nadal together to play is taking the number one and two in the world and putting them together. You would think this would be a good thing with good results. And they're also decent friends, even though they're rivals on the court, they don't hate each other. But putting two talented players together doesn't exactly equal a good doubles pairing.

My answer is no. At least, not without practice.

I can simply back it up with this- during my tennis season, our coach was just putting people together for practice matches, and our number one and number two singles players wanted to play together. They're both really good players, and they're best friends. But they could not play together at all. So not everyone is compatible. Sometimes best friends can be partners, like me and my partner, and sometimes the best players can be put together. But playing doubles isn't as simple as putting two people together and sending them on the court.

Yes, definitely. Federer and Nadal has so much tennis talent they can do whatever they want. If they want to play doubles together and practice together they can be one of the best doubles pairs ever. Even better than the Australian Woodies, the American Bryan Brothers, etc. Just take Federer for example, despite how little he has played doubles, he won GOLD in the Olympics Doubles. That just shows how much talent really matters in tennis, especially if you are at the level of Federer and Nadal.

Yet, if they focus on doubles they can probably win everything but then their individual results in singles will suffer greatly. Their rankings will drop and they will miss many opportunities to win grand slams tournaments. In tennis the great players are more defined by their achievements in singles so there's just no way Federer or Nadal will play doubles(together or not) on a consistent basis. The prize money in singles and doubles differ greatly too and there's really no comparison, not to way in doubles you need to split your prize money with your partner too, so not only do you get a lot less money, but you also have to then split it in half.

In conclusion, there's just no comparison between playing singles and doubles and Federer and Nadal can play doubles together but there's no way they will actually do it. If I were a pro tennis player I would rather be remembered as Federer, Sampras, Agassi, etc than the Bryan Brothers or the Woodies. Maybe after Federer and Nadal both retire they can play doubles together one day in the Legends matches or something, but there's no way they'll play doubles now(together or not).

It's not just you djb, I also think that that Bryan chest bump is the gayest thing in tennis. I wonder if they practice that at home, or were they just born with it. Anyway, but I don't think Fed-Nad would beat them. Neither of these have much experience playing doubles. They could barely even speak each other's languages, much less communicate. I heard one of the commentators say that doubles tennis is all about who can return better on the second serve. I guess it's an entirely different ball game. That Fed and Nad are #1,2 in singles means nothing.

Yes, I suppose that they could form a double team, that will be awesome for all the fans to see them at the same side of the court and winning all these matchs ( It's Roger and Rafael )= the Double R team.

but I do not think that they will agree to make a double team, due to their history that is fulll of matchs between each other. and they have been like enemies during the matchs, but they seem to like each other after the match, I think it will be cool, But I do not think that they will agree, because like if they joined the Wimbledon double, they will lose effort for the Singles Wimbledon, and they wont be strong enough to reach the finals because there are good players now. and they wouldnt want to lose their effort and tierdness for a double.

hope you liked my argument =D

No, both are focused only on singles it seems. Also Nadals game isn't really suited to doubles.

i guess it's possible. But I don't think Fed plays doubles that much anymore. Put it this way whoever they would play would have little chance at winning. Go Federer!!!

    No not really.

Putting two great singles together doesnt meant they will make a good doubles pair.

Some players are more suited for singles and some are more suited for doubles.
