I'm not sure why I'm sleeping this way?
I've noticed over the last 6 months or so, that I cross my arms (almost tightly) over my chest area when I get in to position to sleep.
I used to just sleep easily on my side with one hand under my pillow, but now it's like I'm curling up within myself...strange.

Usually these actions are small reactions to what your subconscious mind is thinking. Perhaps you've been through something in the past that caused you to be so protective of your chest area. Something might have happened, or influenced you to be so conscious and protective of your body. This can also be body language, where crossing your arms tightly usually means you are feeling negative about something. Bad dreams that cause you to be scared of falling asleep? Or you're just very sensitive and protective of your body, mostly your chest area. If you are truly annoyed or bothered by this reaction, you can go see a profession about this, ask them about it, or try to break the habit if you don't like it.

I do this too. I have always wanted people to value me, so it's like I'm hugging myself. I sometimes imagine other people hugging me. I've done this ever since an emotionally abusive relationship. I have done this in front of people in public too. It's not necessarily a bad thing, it might be an alert to your feelings though. Good luck with everything.
