Why do so many divorced women keep their ex husband's last name?
I mean, you don't want to be with him anymore so why have his last name lingering around for the rest of your life?
To keep the childrens name is a good answer, but if the woman is single?

, Some for the kids ,some do it cause they are still on their husbands insurance ,Some do it for spite to make a point to any other wives like Iam the first wife , Plus it gets costly and time consuming changing your name you got leases or mortgage papers ,social security cards ,credit cards , Bank loans , utilities and bank accounts , and car notes car insurance , her job it is just to much paper work to be dealing with it is not that they are lazy or in love with him its just to time consuming and costly

I kept the name because I was in the middle of college and it would have been a real hardship to try and change all that midstream. Besides, I knew some day I would remarry and I would change it all then - and six years later, I did.

I don't know but this is a good question, My friend has kept her married name even though they are divorced and the silly thing is she really hates him, I'd like to know the answer to this question as well.

its so much easier.
for ex.
my mom was a real estate agent so it would be super confusing if she changed her last name on all her clients.
plus you have to go fill out a bunch of papers and get new drivers license and stuff.
and i like having the same last name as my mom and im sure she wants to have the same last name as me too

I couldn't. It would be a horrible reminder especially if it had ended badly

my Mom did...she had credit and cars and a job with that name--it was hers and will always be.
