where does a homeless man go for help, when all who say they help do not, and even ask the homeless for money?

Update:

to answer those with no compassion or helpfull advice. after working my entire life and having been at my last job for 13 years. this economy cost me my job. with no new jobs other than sparce day labor sites. even they have very little and hundreds seeking what few jobs there are for minimum wage. the shelters are only for those mentally challanged, or with children, or on illegal narcotics or alchol. churches do judge and white or black, try to force their view points onto you and refuse to help unless you become part of their religion, thereby taking away your freedom of choice under the bill of rights. unemployment in indiana is bankrupt, and i have been fighting to get it for 7 months now, even though approved. plus is hard to find work with no transportation, and no way to maintain proper hygine, when you have no place to do so. as for your tax dollars, do not know where it goes , but there is no help for the homeless. i have tried everywhere.

I also can't believe some of the uneducated answers on here.

Shelters are there to help you. A church will not judge you, when it offers to help you. It is there to help you get back on your feet.

Also, unemployment will sometimes pay for you to go back to school and learn a valuable trade. Its cheaper than just giving you money, until you find another job, that you will eventually be laid off from.

A lot of people on the streets are mentally challenged, yes. They do not choose to be there. Most institutions are closed now, and the hospital will only treat them temporarily. Then they get sent back to the streets. They actually, really have no place to go. It is a huge problem.

You are being too hard on yourself. You are only listing your excuses.

If Indiana has no work, move elsewhere and change your life.

    Let me tell you something.

Most of the homeless people do not want to be helped in the way you think they do. Sometimes the life on the street is much easier than waking up for work every day and being paid little for so much. There is a reason these people got here in the first place, it is because they don't want to live the life you and I live. They have no obligations, and don't have to pay bills.

They know where food is, they know where an acceptable place to sleep is... many of them have drug habits.

The shelters only make life easier for them, easier for them to stay dependent on street life. Yes there are tough times for them, like hot and cold days. But they are living the life that they want to live. If they didn't want it, they would have never went to the streets in the first place. Some avoided jail time on the streets, some avoided child support obligations, some avoided being told what to do.

Yes some have mental problems, but we all make choices in this world. They chose to "stay" on the streets. The ones who don't want to be on the streets have used all the taxpayer resources to get out.

Oh these people who are supposed to love you really are the pits really, they are. You do want to have shelter or you would not be asking this bleeding question would you? Where abouts are you mate? In most cases you have to lie to the people who's duty it is to help but do not. Have you tried going to the hospital and telling them that you are seriously mentally ill and a danger to yourself and the public, i'm thinking that getting admitted to an institute will give you more power, they are lying to you when they do not want to help you so you do the same.

I take it you have been to the church and asked them for help. If you are white and your own race does not want to know go to a black church and hound them to help you, you may find a different set of people who do care, if you are not white and something else go to either white or black church and plead until they are sick of you and will have no option but to help you, It is in the bible that those who persist gets results, pray when you are in motion and do not give up. You are an outcast and an outcast is the same as what Jesus Christ was, he already knows about you, now I am not sure if he has risen which could be why we are all suffering so much but I do know that he loves you.

Try what I have told you to do, its hard for me because I do not know where you are but I would think that in every country all churches have a duty to help vulnerably people.

I am surprised at the lack of compassion by others who have made comments. Depending on your circumstances, the local shelter should be able to help you. Churches or other religious centers are usually places that don't judge you or ask you for money. If you are homeless by choice and choose to remain homeless then your options will become limited.

Why do people always think that homeless people want help I have a hard time believing that

anyone stays in that situation unless they want to

there is all kinds of places to go Y.m.c.a.s, city missions, welfare offices we pay plenty of taxes

that make programs available. In other-words through my labor, taxes are removed which help these people not to mention I contribute to the salaries of the people that make programs possible. Back to my original point in a homeless situation you don't have to worry about rent, no responsibility, roam where ever you choose so again in today's america with govt officials wanting to give money away to anyone don't you think that some one who stays homeless its a life style choice

homeless is a choice. the government can support them. even if they dont understand how it all works, the government provides someone to help them so they do understand.
