Septum Piercing Questions.?

Okay, so. I want to get my septum pierced.

First off, don't give me BS about how it looks trashy and what not, i don't want your crap.

Anyway, these are my questions:

1. How bad is the pain?

2. What are the chances of it getting infected?

3. I've heard that the ring stinks and gets annoying?

I'm getting it pierced soon, so please answer my questions.

Thanksss :D

    1. It's a cartilage piercing, and your nose cartilage is a bit more sensitive than your ears, so it's pretty ouchy. Your eyes will water, and you might sneeze as well, which is pretty funny. It's pretty tender for a good week or so afterwards as well, but starts to get better after that - you just need to be careful not to knock it.

    2. The same as with any other piercing - ie low. I'm of the 'leave it the heck alone' school of body piercing aftercare and it's worked fine for me for a couple of dozen piercings over the years. Keep it clean for the first few days (or as long as you can be bothered - depends how paranoid you are) and don't fiddle with it, and you should be fine. Even if it gets infected, it's not exactly a major problem - it'll just be a bit sore. Cleaning with salt water gets rid of the infection, no need to take it out or anything..

    3. It only tends to smell if you stretch to a larger gauge than the standard 16g or 14g which you get pierced at. For the first few days there'll be a funny metallic smell because of blood and it healing, but after that there's nothing noticable. It's no more annoying than any other piercing - you get used to it quickly.

    1. it is the second most painful piercing that i have had. it hurts like hell, but it only lasts 30 seconds or so. it probably will bleed ( mine gushed ), and it will make your eyes water up. there isn't any candy coating the pain. it does hurt, but for me the adrenaline rush i get from getting pierced makes the pain obsolete.

    2. that depends on how well you take care of it. to be perfectly honest, i didn't take care of mine like i should have and it didnt get infected. i have never had a problem with it at all.

    3. ive never had a problem with mine smelling. it's annoying the first month or so you have it just because youre not used to it being there. i've had mine for 5 years and 99% of the time i totally forget i have it.
