will someone please explain this to me?

i can understand reporting me if i actually do something that violates the community guidelines, hell i have had question reported and deleted. never in till today have i had and answer reported.

out of all things i have said on this forum how is it i get a violation notice for answering OK to a yes or no question? will someone please tell me how this is a violation and if it is not, how does something like this get through to the people who review the reported questions and answer. what, more then one person reports something(because nobody on this forum has multiple accounts) it automatically gets removed without being reviewed?

Update:

no, it was, will you help me with this other question, then there was a link, i answered ok to the first, then help with the other question.

Update 2:

ok does not mean no

Update 3:

the asker did not what a long drawn out answer for the first question " it was will you help me with this other question" then there was a link to the other question, i said ok(which means i will help) and then i help with the other question by leaving a good answer.

Update 4:

WOOO HOOO

i appealed and it was accepted, there for i was not in violation!

The question was a violation for soliciting. You just got caught up in that.

There are some things you need to understand. First off, the question itself was a violation -- it was 'soliciting' answers to another question, NOT truly asking a 'knowledge worthy' question. That type of 'soliciting' is not allowed on the site, either in questions or in answers. So that was one issue.

Next, OK was not truly an answer, as discussed completely above, plus by answering a violation question, people would have seen what you were doing as also being a violation, compounding the problem. So, sorry, you got hit for that.

Finally, there IS NO REVIEW of any violation unless and until you file an appeal. The Community Moderation is automated. It can take only ONE report, actually, if the person reporting has a high enough reliability. For others, it usually takes multiple reports, though. So, probably more than one person reported it.

If you want to understand the system, click the HELP link (top right) and click the Community Moderation link at the left. It explains clearly there just how this works.

Well, 'OK' is not an answer to anything is it? So you would have been reported for point-gaming, i.e. 'answering' the question just for the two points. You may think your answer was harmless but look at it this way:-

You ask a question and wait for answers. Then you see that you have an answer to your question, and you click on it in happy anticipation. How disappointed would you feel to see an answer that just says 'OK'. If you are a new user and your question gets useless answers like this, you might leave the site in disgust and never return, which is not in Yahoo's interests.

Other answers that are classified as point-gaming are:-

    1. idk / I don't know

    2. google it / look it up

    3. thanks for the 2 points

Never mind, we all get the occasional violation notice, I got one myself recently. The thing is to learn from it and not make the same mistake again.

Edit:- Well I wish you explained it in the first place. Your Additional Details changes everything. Now it is obvious that the question itself was a violation for asking people to do something and not being a knowledge-seeking question. I expect someone reported the question and all the answers, because if a question is a violation then all the answers are too.

I have not seen the question you are referring to. If it asked for a Yes or No answer and you replied OK then it is a violation. It did not answer the question. Was George Washington the first president? An answer of OK is meaningless.

Answering "OK" to an answer is a "Vague answer" and can be grounds for deletion.
