API Pimafix/Melafix Alternatives?

Any alternatives in case the pet store doesn't stock it?

Update:

As Fishman has said we need to know what you are treating for before we can recommend a treatment. There are several good online stores scattered around the internet so my first port of call would be there.

methyl blue will treat some bacterial infections like melafix would, but it is used in biology for staining protein--so this means absolutely do not get it on your skin, clothes, or the silicone sealant of your display tank, because the stains will be permanent (except on your skin). You can give your fish a medicated bath of this in something like a large tupperware tub for treatment, something you don't mind turning a little blue. Tetracycline is a good remedy for bacterial infections also, although it usually comes in a powder form in the stores and it turns your water colors. It works really well though.

As for an antifungal, I don't know any specific home remedies except for perhaps increasing the salinity of your tank a bit with some aquarium salt--but there is a powder-form antifungal that they sell at petsmart that works well. Once again, it turns your water a funky yellow for awhile, but it does the job. hope this helps.

    What problem are you treating?

    EDIT: Try methylene blue

EDIT2: Gouramis are anabantoids. Melafix is not good for anabantoids ( dont know about prinamfix

Hi! be more specific when you use search engine, be se now a days is so complex, you must input data more specific and regarding the classifieds, you must put keyword that is more cathy to readers and put some images on it because readers now a days look on the picture not to the ads.

I would reccomend maracyn, in my past experiences its way better.

Although maracyn is good, it has a strong weird smell..

But it will cure your fish..

    Hopefully this helps..
