dead black mystery snail? (picture included)?

please help me! ahhh, so my black mystery snail has been laying in the corner of the tank for a day now.. he started being still when i added in my new betta fish.

i've looked up what a dead snail would look like and the picture below is what he looks like now (the right snail) but i'm not sure if this picture is of a dead one...

so my question is; is the right snail in this picture dead? if so moe is dead):

Definitely not dead in the photograph.

If your snail is dead then it's foot will be shriveled and wrinkled and probably hanging out. If it's been a day, take the snail out and smell it first. If there is no fowl odor then try to move it's trap door to see if it responds.

Possibly the snail may just be in hiding because of it's new tank mate.

    LMAO phillies XDDDD

The picture doesn't show dead snails, those are most definitely alive. The quickest way to see if Moe's alive or not is to gently poke him and wait for a reaction, I don't know much about snails but they should do something... My otto stays in the same corner day after day after day... I know how it feels to wonder if your poor pet's dead or not T_T GL with Moe, I'm sure he's just a bit nervous, he'll get back to normal sooner or later.

I can't tell sorry. But the snail on the left looks more dead then the one on the right. I wouldn't be to worried. Mystery snails are cheap. The snail might of died because it was to stressed and to scared to look for food with a new fish in the tank. If he doesn't move when you move him with a net then eh is dead :'(. Sorry

To both posters above... she is not asking if a dead snail will get pregnant.... she's asking if a snail will attempt to mate with a dead snail so that she can guage whether her snail is still alive.... read the question! I would pick the snail up and look inside. You could even use the eraser of a pencil to lightly touch the body of the snail and see off it recoils from touch. If it doesn't respond.... it is dead. Remove from tank and dispose... sorry:(

those snails could be dead or may be alive most times when a snail dies it falls out of its shell but not always if it is not moving then try to move it with your net if it is dead then it should fall out if not it should move sometimes you will find your snail closed up with a hard bottom this is not a dead one either it is only closed up it can stay like that for sometime unless it falls out I would not worrie about it gl with your fish and snail
