If you gave someone in another state custody of your daughter and she got pregnant by their 18 year old son?

how would you feel if you were not told about it? I know someone in that situation .The girl is 15.

Update:

The girls not family and they were told they didn't have to notify her family.

    holy sh*t

  • I'd be skeptical about why it is that the parent gave up custody in the first place. And if I was the parent, I would place blame where it belongs... square on my own shoulders. And it makes me wonder why the daughter didn't tell her mom herself. I have a feeling there is some deep rooted mental health issues going on here. This mom should have known what kinds of things can happen when she signed over custody (which means she might never find out anything about her kid). This family could have cut her off completely and legally.

Its not as if the custodial parent is responsible for the two having sex, the girl could have gottten pregnant at home too. I would also be pissed at my daughter, and then again pissed at myself for not teaching her any better. (To obstain or use protection)

The blame lies with the biological mother, although I can understand her frustration with the whole situation but pointing fingers will not do any good.

The first question is: why did the parent give up custody of the young daughter and send her to another state in ther first place?

The second is: did the parent use good judgement in choosing that person to have custody?

Thirdly, is the eighteen-year old being charged with statutory rape? He should be.

Unfortunately, some estranged parents today treat children as commodities to be shipped about at their convenience and whim, and wonder why the kids end up so screwed up.

I'm pretty sure I would feel completely violated. My next step (after emotional rage), would be to hotline the caretakers and press charges on the 18 year old for sexual contact with a minor.

I'd fell like a TV star when I tell Jerry Springer about it.

He should be shopped to the police....he should of known better and most importantly "they both" should of used some form of contraception. Sheer stupidity.

    You don't have custody.

Clearly it is not your problem. You won't be woken up in the night for feeding/burping.
