As of March 2009, Mercer Consulting ranked MOSCOW, RUSSIA, as the WORLD'S THIRD MOST EXPENSIVE PLACE TO LIVE. In 2008, Mercer ranked Moscow as the most expensive place to live.
Each year, Mercer Consulting assembles its ranking of the most expensive places to live. Mercer compiles information from 143 cities worldwide, comparing the cost of more than 200 items in each location including housing, transportation, food, clothing, household goods, entertainment and more. It is the world’s most comprehensive cost of living survey and is used to help multinational companies and governments determine compensation allowance for their expatriate employees.
