The age ol' question, ha, ha. In a sentence, It's nature's way of propagating. Mammals cannot digest the peel of fruits or the seed coating. The reasoning for the seed it when an animal eats say a strawberry (the seeds happen to be on the outside of the fruit) your body digests all the red stuff but you poop out the seeds. In nature if a bird or bear did this the seeds would go through the digestive tract and be on the ground in a bunch of nitrogen rich poo to grow and be happy and probably miles away from mommy plant. It's nature's way of spreading around. Corn kernels are seeds. They're just juicy seeds, that's we eat them. We just don't chew enough so we get to see them again. Eat creamed corn or chew the "crap" outta the corn next time to get all your daily vitamins. Happy defecating.
