If you account for the fact that they have to work, socialize, and take care of their other needs, it takes about 5 or 6 Sim days, b/c they can't write it all at one time. If you use the cheat "maxmotives" in the cheat box, you can keep their needs up and they can write the novel in one sitting, but it still takes quite a few Sim hours.
