Which came first, the chicken or the chicken egg?
Everyone always asks, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"
And a lot of people say eggs in general came before the chicken.
But what I'm asking is the specific egg from a chicken.
Was the chicken made first, and laid its egg?
Or was the chicken egg formed first, then hatched the first chick?

I've read some answers and some dance around the response.
It is the CHICKEN and I'll give two good reason for all groups...
The Creationist view point -
GOD create all animals in one day. This would include the chicken. then the chicken has fertilzed eggs and make more chickens.
The Scientific - Non Religious aspect.
Opposite sex chickens need to reproduce and to produce a fertilized egg. If the egg is not fertilized, the species dies. There also needs to be incubation. If just infertile eggs were created then no chickens would have EVER hatched.

The egg came first because other animals came before the chicken that had eggs of some kind.
One kind are the fish in the seas; fish lay eggs. Another are snakes; snakes also lay eggs.
Only if this question was asked as, "Which came first, the chicken or the chicken egg?", would it be a paradox.
Sexually reproducing animals also have eggs- the question doesn't specify a type of egg.
Dinosaurs had eggs.
Darwin's theory; the chicken egg came from a different species.
A chicken could not have its genetic material altered during life, so the egg must have evolved and been first.
If you take into account the doctrine of evolution, the egg's coming first becomes plausible on the cellular level under perfect circumstances (abundant food and resources). There will be an a-sexual reproduction once the environment becomes unfavorable. The species would then evolve, and a lot of animals have no parental instincts but through evolution some have started to look after their young.
An a-sexual reproduction is reproduction in which there is no fusion of male and female sex cells gametes.
The egg came first because the chicken descended from a dinosaur, and it laid an egg that was changed from Darwin's theory.
The egg came first because a chicken comes from an egg. At whatever point you decide to call the chicken a true chicken, it must have come from an egg. Because the different species before it must have evolved to make a chicken, the egg came first.
THE CHICKEN CAME FIRST:
Using Literature, the chicken comes first.
Using grammar, "the chicken" comes first in the sentence (They come before the words, "the egg".).
In a dictionary, the word "chicken" comes before "egg".
God created the chicken first.
In the seven days that God created the earth, it makes no mention of animal's eggs. Thus, the chicken came first.
The chicken came first because, if the chicken didn't come first, there would be no egg or care for it. So, God had to make the chicken first.
NEITHER THE EGG NOR THE CHICKEN CAME FIRST:
There is no answer.Since the question is a paradox, there is no answer. If the chicken came first, it came from the egg. If the egg came first, then it came from a chicken, and so forth.
There is no correct answer that can be proven. It's all theory.
Evolution suggests that both chickens and eggs evolved from creatures and "egg-things" you would not recognize to be part of the lineage. (Similar to how, in the very distant past, some molecule[s] that was [were] not what we would call "life" became "life".) That was the beginning.
The rooster came first.Neither the chicken or the egg came first. It was the rooster who came first.
The egg and the chicken came at the same time. The chicken and the egg are just two different names for the same process or being. It's like water becoming ice is still water, and vice versa.

There are actually three answers. The first answer is the egg, the second is the chicken, and the third is neither the chicken or the egg.
Here's some facts:
THE EGG CAME FIRST
-The egg came first because other animals came before the chicken that had eggs of some kind.
-One kind are the fish in the seas; fish lay eggs. Another are snakes; snakes also lay eggs.
-Only if this question was asked as, "Which came first, the chicken or the chicken egg?", would it be a paradox.
-Sexually reproducing animals also have eggs- the question doesn't specify a type of egg.
-Dinosaurs had eggs.
-Darwin's theory; the chicken egg came from a different species.
-A chicken could not have its genetic material altered during life, so the egg must have evolved and been first.
-If you take into account the doctrine of evolution, the egg's coming first becomes plausible on the cellular level under perfect circumstances (abundant food and resources). There will be an a-sexual reproduction once the environment becomes unfavorable. I guess this still leaves no positive answer. But, I believe the egg came first, because, as said, dinosaurs came before chickens, and dinosaurs lay eggs.

Don't forget that the content of the egg is "food" for the cell to live of while developing into a ready to hatch baby chicken - All life i.e humans, chickens, elephants etc comes from a cell and an eggs. The cell represents life and the egg is just nutrient to live of while developing either inside the mother or outside the mother. The inclosed egg was either gods great idea to make life easier for the cells to find the nutrients it need to grow or evolutions fortunate path for the chickens, fish and reptiles. The nutrient probably existed first perhaps in the shape of sulfur in the air or water or something else for the first primitive life form on earth (Cells) which then grew more advanced/evolved (Rather amazingly, considering that everything is so perfect) and coursed the development of the living animals where the female is carrying the nutrient and the male is carrying the cells then some animals doesn't carry the fertilized egg but lay it including the hen (The chickens mother). The cell and the nutrient! well that's left up to discussion where that appeared from.

Honestly, I'd have to say the egg. Obviously, the egg had to be laid by some sort of bird, but whatever laid the egg was not a quote unquote chicken. Evolutionary theories suggest that the chicken evolved from an earlier bird. So the chances are, the egg came first, and contained the mutated/evolved form that we call the chicken.
Plus, if you want to discount the evolution idea, that the chicken was slowly created, the egg, as in the one that you buy at the store in cartons, is the largest single cell example that we have. The yolk, the yellow part, is the nucleus.
That's my answer, at least. Make of it what you will.

Driving Ruminations
When I drive, I think about stuff. Stupid things, my life, big things, world changing things. Don’t ask me where this stuff comes from – If I knew, I wouldn’t go there.
Now, this one is big!! I have solved the age old debate regarding which comes first – the chicken or the egg?
Using the scientific method and a proof, I resolved this today standing in front of a deli Case at a convenience store in southern Colorado.
While deciding whether to get the chicken salad or the egg salad sandwich,
I was suddenly struck by this age old question.
“What if”, I said to myself, “The egg came first and was then promptly reduced to an egg salad sandwich, then, the chicken could never occur (nor the sandwich).”
“However, if the chicken (meaning a mature bird) came first, the sign of maturity would be laying an egg. After that moment, the chicken could be rendered into a tasty salad.”
The common denominators of mayonnaise, salt pepper, and mustard common to both salads was determined, through my analysis, not to affect the outcome of this most scientific proof.

The chicken came first because I believe the real question is where did the chicken come from.
That being said, a chicken is a chicken and the egg only has the potential of becoming a chicken.

The theory of evolution states that species change over time via mutation and sexual reproduction. Since deoxyribonucleic acid can be modified only before birth, it can be argued that a mutation must have taken place at conception or within an egg such that a creature similar to a chicken, but not a chicken, laid the first chicken eggs. These eggs then hatched into chickens that inbred to produce a living population.Hence, in this light, both the chicken and the structure of its egg evolved simultaneously from birds that, while not of the same exact species, gradually became more and more like present-day chickens over time.

The egg came first. When the chicken came into existence it didn't just pop out of nowhere. The egg with the genetics of a chicken was laid and therefore the chicken exists.
Evolution and natural selection can explain this. A single organism cannot evolve in its own lifetime. Evolution occurs over generations and takes time to perfect an adaptation. Our current idea of the chicken has not been around for all time and it did not just pop out of nowhere. When the closest ancestor of the chicken met a certain factor in its environment it could not deal with, because it did not have the necessary adaptations, the mutation needed to deal with that factor was then more frequently seen because of the benefits to the organism. And the organism with that mutation reproduces more frequently, passing on the same mutation plus more.
Simply put, the egg came first because individuals cannot evolve on their own. Mutations are past on and develop because of the beneficial qualities.
Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

As stated before, eggs have been in existence long before chickens have. The type of egg that was produced many years ago that yielded a chicken was the result of breeding two similar species together. So, since a chicken is hatched from an egg, the chicken egg would be first.
