Who wrote that thing about "the road less traveled?
...and how it has made all the difference. I'm looking to find the original work.
Thanks. I had this idea, but I wanted to actually read the original piece before I referred to it.
I was going to write something which spun off from thinking about old friends and one I had randomly encountered once who had referred to the time we knew each other as "another life." That reminded me of the movie Slackers and the first scene where he's contemplating that road not taken thing, only taking it a step further, into some theory that each time we make a decision, alternate realities are created for each possible variable... Philip K. Dick wrote a novel about that I think, they made it into a movie starring Nicholas cage, but I digress.
So I was thinking, what if I just happened to be walking along some road, well travelled or no, and I happened to cross paths with this person, only it was me, only someone who had made some other decision somewhere along the line.
Can anyone think of some other stories like that?
Wait a minute. There was a step I left out. After that thing from Slackers, I was thinking about The Lathe Of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin.
Linear thinking, Bah! You can have it.
If someone wants to steal that crossroads idea, BTW, please do. Just let me know where it goes. It's bound for the scrap heap if I have to be the one to work on it.
Generally, I'm not interested in being an "ideas man." My ideas are just for fun, mostly.
