Do you have any family that you can borrow money from? Friends? Anything? Your puppy needs to see a vet. I can understand your situation and everything (my dad's laid off too, for almost a year), but there has to be some way that you can borrow the money or get a CareCredit card to pay for the vet visit or something, Calll around and see if there's a humane society that you can talk to, they may be able to help you. See if the vet will work with you on payments and give you a quote ahead of time and do a fundraiser. Anything, really.

Is your friend a certified vet or in training? If he is certified, he probably still doesn't have the authority to bring home medical supplies from the animal care facility, and wouldn't have the right equipment/technology to do everything that is needed for the pup. If you try to take care of the puppy, you are setting him up for incorrect healing. If you have to make the decision to put him down, you still have to take him to the vet. How much pain is he in? How bad is the break? Is he trying to get around despite the break...that would probably be a good sign. If he isn't, then he definitely needs to be seen by a vet. Call the vet and explain that you had found the puppy, knew you couldn't afford to pay for vet care, but didn't know what else to do with the puppy other than keep him. Ask for suggestions. They might do payments. You can also call the humane society or shelter and tell them, ask for advice, etc. They might take the puppy off your hands and treat him as well. Look up no-kill shelters or other animal organizations. I have 2 dogs, could pay for them before, but now economic troubles have made it difficult to pay veterinary care...which is expensive. We had VPI (Veterinary Pet Insurance) we were paying every month. It is reasonably priced, but we had a couple months that we were down to our last pennies.

If you can not afford to treat the dog you will have to surrender him to an agency that can. Check with the local SPCA or a vet that will allow you to make payments - but you can't let the dog suffer.

I am very sorry for your economic situation, and maintaining a dog is a further drain on that situation. Remember, not taking him to a vet with this type of injury is considered cruelty to animals and it is against the law. If someone were to turn you in, the dog would be taken away from you.

So, get him the help he needs or surrender him. Once again, I'm sorry but that's the only option.

If your dog got hit by a car and has a broken leg he is need to be seen by the vet this is not nothing to mess around with your dog is in lets of pain if you can afford a vet bill why get a dog then dogs always need to be seen by vet in case they get sick or get hurt poor dog give him a new home that someone can take care of him and give some love all you are doing is making the dog suffer

I would contact vets in your area, and see if they offer week-to-week payment plans to pay off a bill. Call around a little, this is not uncommon if you let them know in advance.

If this does not work, contact shelters and see if they or any group they know of helps subsidize vet fees in cases of financial hardship or work with certain vets in emergencies. They may be able to help, and are often willing to in order to keep the dog out of a shelter. Quite a few organizations like this exist around the country (like the great Angels 4 Animals near where I live).

Just make sure the puppy gets care, and soon, so he doesn't have to suffer too much! Good luck!

You can't let your puppy suffer! You HAVE to take him to an animal shelter or vet, its no question. Your dogs leg is broken and the amount of pain the poor thing must be in. Do the decent thing, take him to a place or agency where he can be looked after, don't blame it on the fact the shelters near you put dogs down, he needs help, so help him. Search for an agency you can give him to immediately, even if he is put back down its better than being seriously injured with no medical care. Take him to the vet!

Just drop him off at the vet, they will help your dog and you could make a payment later. Get in touch with a relative that could help you. Your dog is going to suffer and it will only get worse if you don't get him treated. Sell him as much as you don't want to, it's in his best interest. I know there is more than one shelter in your area, this dog needs help.

Why was a 6 week old puppy off of his leash? if you do not have pet insurance then you need to be around your dog making sure he's not getting into anything.

Why have a dog when you can't afford it? you have to sell him.You must have recently got this dog if he's 6 weeks, so phone who ever you got him from and ask if they can help you pay for his treatment.

You can help him by taking him to the shelter and having him euthanized. Are you that selfish that you'd rather see your dog in horrible pain? Don't call us stupid, you're the dumb one.

Why do you have a 6 week old pup anyway? In most places it's illegal to bring a pup home before it's at least 8 weeks old. How did a 6 week old pup get hit by a car?

You're so broke, but you can afford internet service?

Letting the dog suffer is a form of animal abuse and someone should turn your @ss into the animal control department in your city/county. You make me sick to my stomach.

You don't have the money to take the puppy to the vet.. he will eventually die, but in the mean time he is in agony right?

You don't want to take him to a shelter as he will be put down.

Call a pitt bull breeder or take him back to where you got him.

I just noticed you said he is 6 weeks.

And why are you already ready to call people stupid if they say anything about him being a pit? That should not even be your worry.. You should take the serious advice on here if.. what you say is real

Sorry but me I have my doubts. I think this is fabricated.

A puppy should NEVER be in the situation where it can be hit by a car.

You will have to give the dog up to a shelter, it NEEDS treatment immediately and you cannot give it to it.

Saying its "because it is a pittbull" is less stupid than not giving a dog with a broken leg treatment!

ADD - If you cannot find someone willing to take the dog in and pay for treatment then it is your only option.

What is better, being in agony for the rest of your life Or going to a peaceful sleep?
