    -"The Complete Calvin and Hobbes"

    -"The Complete/Collected Peanuts"

-The Complete/Collected For Better or For Worse"

I can't think of a better trio to exemplify the virtues of peace, tolerance, understanding and the human condition than these three amazing cartoon strips in their entirety.

"The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. That book still brings tears to my eyes. You don't have to read some long, complex work in order to get a true meaning.

My second choice would be "The Little Prince" for similar reasons, but I'm still going with "The Giving Tree."

EDIT: Lana T, you know it!

The Spirits' Book, The Book of Mediums and The Gospel According to Spiritism, by a french teacher and educator called, who used the pseudonym "Allan Kardec" to spread the spiritualist doctrine throughout the world. It's amazing, fascinating, definitely enlightening.
