So Google to take on Microsoft?

Google is to take on Microsoft and introduce and Operating System , which will be priced into the cost of the PC or Laptop.I didn't like there attempt at a browser, just looked so "plain jane"? As Google and Yahoo are one and add driven, does this means more adds , more vulnerable to infections? Or is this just going to be good old competition, and more choice for the consumer? Will it change they way a computer functions, or the way we use it? Interesting time ahead with Windows 7 about to be released?

This isn't going to be a game changer, or at least I certainly don't think so. It's all based on Linux, which, sadly, hasn't caught on with most of the computer industry. Windows and Mac will still be dominant. One great thing, however, is that it will be much more secure, because it's based on Linux. I don't see this as competition, to be honest. But hey, perhaps they'll prove me wrong. I know one thing- most people won't use it because iTunes won't work, as well as most programs people use on a day-to-day basis. This especially hinders the iPhone/iPod Touch users.

I think you might as well forget about the Google OS. I think it will be a flop.

Chrome was supposed to be simple. Like everything Google. It's fast and simple, thats why i like it.

I think it will change the use of the computer. Everything will revolve around "the cloud." Nothing stored on the computer. The computer will be bare bones and all the processing will be off site.

I also think it's just good old competition. CONSUMERS FTW.

    (Good question, by the way)

Google OS as it is linux based why would anyone pay for it it is pointless to pay for an os that you can get for free if you would like it so yeah unless they have made some life altering changes or som new unbeatable feature it will flop like beta max

It's basically their Linux version and right now at least it's just aimed at the Netbook for simple web browsing etc so hardly any competition for Microsoft right now.
