Has everyone checked their 20p pieces, to see if they have an undated one?

I thought I had one, but was looking in the wrong place for the date.

They`re going for about £200 + on Ebay.

I can`t understand them going for so much, as there were 200,000 struck.

There`s quite a few been found in my area. (Lancashire)

Update:

I was looking across the middle, but the date is round the edge.

Update 2:

You must think like me, Vincent A, I said to my sister the other day, do you think we could file the date off one.

Update 3:

Harry R, how do you know they`re 2009, if they`re undated?

The undated ones were minted in 2008.

Update 4:

A New Leaf, don`t know why you told us that lol, but more to the point, did they get to keep the money?

Yep! I was misled at first.

I think the important thing is that there is NO date on EITHER side!

Some of the illustrations in the paper were a bit misleading, and gave the impression that if the side with the Queen's Head on had no date then you were "In the money"

I should think that someone (like me !) will think of carefully grinding the date off the Queen's Head side and trying to pass it off as an undated coin!

Damn, Trish...found two unstamped 2009 (nice and unspoilt) ones - in the wee jam pot I usually throw my twenty-pees in. Damn eBay!! will keep them for a couple of years, then take them down to a rare coin dealer - or perhaps keep them both until 2020, when I turn fifty and see what I can get for them in a dusty rare coin gallery - or even a shop. Wouldn't have bothered...but tend to stick all my 20 pees into my old Robinsons jar - with the gollywog!

No because that is lame, and I am not that hard up for £50.

They are going for so much because there are lots of fools who will spend that much .Don't you remember people paying loads for a mouldy piece of toast?

  • I knew someone who found an old wardrobe dumped on waste land which contained £16,000 in cash.

Why the fcuk did I tell you that anyway..........??
