pick a guard ask him "If I asked the other guard, which door would he say leads to freedom?" Take the door opposite to what's indicated!

Regardless of whom you ask, they'll point to the wrong door.

He gets to pick a door, yet the guards are only at one door?

    In that case...

...Umm..the inmate opens the door and goes through.

He'd say, "If I ask the other guard which door to go into, what would he say?"

Then, he'd go into the door opposite that the guard says.

If he asks the truthful one, then he'll say what the liar would say, which is the wrong door. If he asks the liar, then he'd lie and say that the truthful guard would say the wrong door, too.

Ask one what the other one would say if he asked them which door to go through.

I've seen this riddle online somewhere only it is worded differently.

    Ask either of them--

"If I asked you if I should go through this door, would you say yes?"

If (either) guard says yes, go through it.. if not, don't. I'm assuming there are only two doors..

    Bam.

he can ask the truthful guard, "does this door lead me to freedom?" if not, then he walks to the other door and exits. wallahh.

    Ask the one standing.

You ask the liar if he is a liar, he will say no. Then you ask the honest gurad if the other guard is a liar.

HE KILLS BOTH AND LOOKS THROUGH EACH DOOR AND FINDS A WAY OUT.
