The Alchemist: The Sectrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, by Michael Scott?

ok so i lv these books! anyone agree?

anyway, i heard that its gunna be made into movie, and if it is, it will released in december 2009 - but does anyone know if they're planning on holding open auditions for the movie, and if they are, where and when? i would love to audition for the movie, especially for the part of sophie, it would be awesome lol

Update:

ya he can use the character, coz Nicholas Flamel was a real person - noone can prove that he was actually immortal, but he did exsist, so the name doesn't belong to J.K. Rowling lol - nice btw (weasley is r king) lmao hp rules!

    THOSE BOOKS ARE AWESOME!

    According to wikipedia:

Film rights for this book have been sold to New Line Cinema and Mark Burnett Productions.[3] The film is currently in pre-production. This has been reported at IMDb. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the writer hired to pen the script is Eric Bress. He is well-known for writing the scripts for the popular television show Kyle XY. It has been reported the producer is Mark Burnett and that he bought the rights to the book in an auction many months before the book was published.[3]

    According to Amazon:

Amazon.com: What’s the status of The Alchemyst movie?

M.S.: There is a script – in fact there is even a second draft of the script, which is incredibly positive. The writers strike in LA slowed everything down and then New Line, who originally bought the rights, were absorbed by Warner Bros. I keep checking in on IMDB! That’s where I’ll get my news!

It doesn't say anything else about the auditions though, unfortunately.

It's one of my favorite YA series.

Couldn't find anything on open auditions for the movie. Only thing I found on the movie at all was the names of the producers. It worries me a little that they're pushing for a December 2009 release date and the movie isn't even cast yet. I hope that doesn't mean it'll be another crappy film adaptation.

  • Oh, I hate that book. It enters a shady deposit into Irish Literature, since the author was Irish I expected it to be of a fairly high quality, but it failed. The book plot was okay, but the dialogue was jagged and everything in it felt fleetingly unreal. All in all the book was relatively enjoyable - disappointing though.

As to the auditions, I haven't any information; though I'm surprised they're aiming for December since they only bought the rights in March. Though I say the auditions will probably be held in the US or - more unlikely, this one - Ireland, because of the slight similarity in accent to the US.

But I'd say no newcomers will be cast.

Never read them, but Nicholas Flamel is mentioned in Harry Potter! Is he allowed to use a character like that?

EDIT - Ohhh he's real! I get it. Stupid me, haha.
