No, it is not necessary. It would be nice to make sure you shower before but do NOT douche! It might change results of pap smear plus it can cause infection and inbalance.

The Gyno doesn't care if you shave or not. The hair is down there for a reason, and the gyno is NOT there to judge you in that way. Whether there is hair or there isn't, it doesn't matter. It isn't going to get in the way of their job. So, no. If you don't want to, don't. Plain and simple :-)

If you don't normally shave, don't. In the medical field you see all stages of hairy, trimmed, and shaved. Just keep it how you prefer to keep it and don't worry about it.
