suggestions to what i can add to this recipe to make it more interesting and tasty?

so i tried this recipe which uses

1 tablespoon basil

1 teaspoon sunflower oil

175g farfalle (pasta)

1 small onion, finely chopped

125g mushrooms, sliced

425g can tomatoes

1 tablespoon chopped basil

Salt and Pepper

then i friend the onions and mushrooms with the oil, then added the tomatoes and let it simmer until all it's sauce (from the can) reduces. After that, i added basil, pasta and then salt and pepper to taste.

the pasta was really good, but i wonder what i can add to make it more delicious and interesting? i cant use beef and pork (rehearsing for an examination in school).

Any ideas? share it with me! thanks! :D

Add in either feta cheese or goat cheese because both will offer a delcious creamy, tangy taste. Add in marinated arichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, and black olives as well. Your dish seems a little bland, but all of these will make is super flavorful and delicious. Basil is good but for more taste add basil along w/ a tablespoon or two of basic pesto(home made or store brand doesn't matter). Enjoy

Farfalle Fresh Tomatoes, Wine and Golden Raisins

    • 6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil , divided

    • 1 cup julienned red onion

    • 1 tablespoon minced garlic

    • 2 cups peeled, seeded, and diced tomatoes

    • 3/4 cup sliced olives, such as kalamata

    • 1/2 cup golden raisins

    • 1/2 cup dry white wine

    • 2 tablespoons drained capers

    • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste

    • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

    • 3/4 pound farfalle or other dry pasta

    • 1/4 cup freshly chopped basil leaves

    • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese , for garnish

    Directions

Heat 2 tablespoons of the olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan and cook the onions and garlic until very tender, 6 to 8 minutes. Add the tomatoes, olives, raisins, white wine, capers, and crushed red pepper flakes and cook until the tomatoes have broken down slightly and the sauce is slightly thickened, 7 to 10 minutes. Add kosher salt and black pepper, to taste, and set aside to keep warm.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package directions until just al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving 1/2 cup of the cooking liquid, and place the pasta in a large mixing bowl along with the hot pasta sauce and the basil. Toss to combine, adding pasta cooking water 1 or 2 tablespoons at a time to thin the sauce, if necessary. Serve the pasta in shallow bowls, drizzled with the remaining olive oil and garnished with the feta cheese. Serves 5-6.

Have you considered preparing it with fresh tomatoes instead of canned? I can't get enough of fresh tomatoes in the Summer and always try to go that way over canned when they're in season.

I would also add some chicken to it. Slice it up and cook it with the onion and mushrooms, although you'll probably need a little more oil, I would also add some minced garlic at this point. If you want to give your sauce some more spice I think italian seasoning is the way to go.

Although I think the recipe sounds really good, I hope you enjoy.

Add fresh mushrooms, zucchini, 1 can cream of mushroom soup and cooked shredded or cubed chicken to the mixture and then put in a casserole dish, top with cheese and bake at 375 for like 30-45 min.

the basic ingredients are ok but you need to experiment with herbs, basil is quite a light flavored herb, so try Oregano, thyme, rosemary & always buy fresh if u can, also if u want to use dried herbs get a good mixed Italian herbs from most supermarkets and add the herbs when your browning off the onions & mushrooms.

You could always add some flavorful chicken sausages, they combine very well with pasta dishes. Another good flavor to add to that would be garlic. Good luck with your examination!
