Good pets for small children?
I'm considering getting a pet. I would like one that is somewhat small(no cats or dogs), easy maintenance, and good with kids(no biting!). I can take it to the vet, but I would prefer not to do it often. Suggestions? Thanks.

usually the walking stick is no problem at all .they are slow walking and they have no wings[so you can't lose them].they only eat leaves and some fruits likes apple, basswood, birch, dogwood, hackberry, hickory, locust, oak, pecan and wild cherry.
or even a little tree frog but they do tend to get lost
or even a parakeet

I have pet rats.they never ever bite. there low mantnence and you would probebley never have to take it to the vet. they live about 2-3 years ddepending on the hhelth of the rat.You must get to rats becuse they can get mentle problems if they are alone. Rats have bad reputations but believe me they will make the best pet that matches youre description!

Ya I would also definitely go with guinea pigs, they make great child pets. They are not to small or too big, and they don't take that much care. However, it should be supervised, otherwise I think it would make a great child pet. Also, if you are worried about biting, I would get one from a rescue or breeder, there they will be a lot friendlier.

A goldfish or beta fish! They are VERY easy to take care of. You only have to get a bowl, and some food. Sprinkle a little bit of food a day. And it's fun to just watch them swim around. And plus, they don't bite!
