What's the difference between Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop?

I want to know because I've seen a few videos of both, and they seem like they do the same thing to me. What's different in the two of them?

    Photoshop works with rastor images.

    Illustrator works with vector graphics.

Check this out to see the difference of rastor and vector.

Illustrator is basically a vector editing program. You can see a longer explanation of it and its history at http://www.graphicsacademy.com/software_adobe_illu...

Adobe photoshop is principally about bitmap/raster editing.
