Simplicity Crib recall...AGAIN?
I heard they had another recall this month, I can't find a model number ANYWHERE on my son's crib..(I have had the crib awhile, used it for my daughter also) .Anyone else have a Simplicity Crib and Changer Combo, Natural color?? It has drop-side like stated in recall but is it all of them with that or just some?? I want to know if mine is recalled....it looks almost exactly like this one...except mine has Simplicity seal on one of the drawers.

The recall is on the drop-sides with the PLASTIC hardware with a flexible tab.
However at this point Simplicity appears to be non-existant though some retailers are giving people money for these cribs out of the goodness of their hearts (and/or bottom line) probably they hope that they will get some of the money back for these products when simplicity goes bankrupt.
Remember that product warranties are held by the manufacturer, as is the burden of replacing recalled items. So smaller stores can't afford to take back these products knowing that simplicity won't pay for them.
Personally I think I'd replace any simplicity crib even if it weren't recalled or I couldn't get any money for it. There have been too many recalls. Personally I don't think I'd be buying any cribs with plastic hardware for that matter either. I have two cribs (both second hand and free) one is the crib I used as a baby and one is a newer one. The plastic parts on the newer one aren't very strong, and they aren't attached well. One of the drop sides isn't safe anymore (I haven't used the crib and even when I was using it it was mostly a change table). The crib I had as a baby is all metal and after at least 5 kids one of the metal bits finally let and the bit holding up the bottom of the drop side bent! But the crib was still completely stable, I only noticed when I was digging out some toys from underneath.

Hazard: The crib’s plastic hardware can break or deform, causing the drop side to detach. When the drop side detaches, it creates space between the drop side and the crib mattress. Infants and toddlers can roll into this space and become entrapped which can lead to suffocation.

Description: This recall involves all drop side cribs with a different or “newer” style of plastic hardware from those cribs recalled in September 2007. This newer style of Simplicity hardware can be identified by a flexible plastic tab at the top of the lower tracks. The recalled model numbers include but may not be limited to: 8050, 8325, 8620, 8745, 8748, 8755, 8756, 8765, 8778, 8810, and 8994, 8995, 8996.
Sold at: Department stores, children’s stores, and mass merchandisers nationwide from January 2005 through June 2009 for between $150 and $300.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and find an alternative, safe sleeping environment for their baby. Consumers should immediately return the crib to the place of purchase for a refund, replacement or store credit.

Simplicity has recalled all of their drop-side cribs. I wouldn't be surprised if other manufacturers soon followed suit.
