Will the Pirates end up keeping Sanchez and Wilson?

According to the link below, the Pirates are negotiating to extend the contracts of Freddy Sanchez and Jack Wilson, rather than trade them. Do you think this will happen?

I am a life-long Pirate fan. I believe Freddy, Jack, and Adam LaRoche are as good as gone.

The Pirates are trying to free up their money to invest in youth. Freddy is due to make something like 8 million dollars next year if he gets 600 at-bats this season. I wish they would stay, because I love to watch those two play, but I have seen the Buccos do **** like this for 16 years now

    EDIT:

I answered this before I read Dejan Kovacelic article..I am shocked that huntington would want to do this..and Ihope it happens

  • I don't know about the contract extensions, but it would not surprise me to see Sanchez go to the Cubs. They are badly in need of a good 2nd baseman if they can offer Pittsburgh some good prospects. If the Pirates are trying to build a good future team around these 2 guys then they definitely have their work cut out for them.

Vern, the Pirates wont trade Sanchez to a team in their own division. The Pittsburgh fans aren't too happy about the Sanchez trade talks, and they might be able to get more for him later on in his career, so they might actually be making a smart decision.

90% chance that they trade them. Even if there is an extension, I wouldn't be surprised if they are doing that to make them more attractive options for another team. I have heard Sanchez to the Rockies, but I think they would have to sweeten the deal to get Eric Young Jr.

They need to either sign them to longer contracts or trade them and get something - rather than see them leave as free agents. Having been an Expos fan I can relate eh.

Well they're the pirates' best two players....so no. they'll probably trade the two of them
