Why do people use Yahoo Answers?
I know I'm being a lot hypocritical, but why do people use Yahoo Answers on questions they could easily, and much more quickly Google.

I only ask questions that I can't find and do not know the answer to.
There are a lot of silly questions out there and most of them the people could have looked it up them selves a lot quicker than asking us and waiting for a answer. But there are some that this is their best resource for getting an answer. Because they do not know how to ask a question so that the computer can understand what they are asking for. But because peoples logic works different than computers we can bridge the gap and figure out what it is that they want to know.

I wonder the SAME THING! SOmetimes when I take ten minutes to give a heart-felt reply to someone, I wonder if their question is even genuine. Also...I wonder why people answer questions with ONE WORD (that many times isn't even relative). My only guess is that since there are some points involved, people are trying to rack up as many points as possible. If this were a game, the whole point is to get the most points so I HONESTLY think some people are actually playing the yahoo answers game. How sad is that, when it is the only purpose? lol
Source(s): By the way, I am amazed at the amount of people who answered a question you DID NOT EVEN ASK. You did not ask why people use yahoo answers (that was only your title)...you asked why they use it to find things they could find FASTER with a google search. FOR EXAMPLE, signs and symptoms of pregnancy...so easy to google, almost every source will give you exact same answers....easy to google, why come here? Most people answered why they come to yahoo answers and totally missed the question, at hand. Surprise surprise - 1 decade ago
I use yahoo answers to get opinions mostly from people. Then that gives me ideas to explore when I'm interested in something but not sure. There are also always some out there that knows something that I don't know. It's always worth a try to ask.

Answers to specific and personal questions is why I use it. Also, sometimes it is easier to go to a place where some people are knowlegable and ask a question than to search for something on Google.

Because people are insecure. They like to feel affirmed in their decision making and turn to /Anon/ to solve all of their minuscule, simple and often indecent problems.
When one uses a search engine one tends to feel as if there may have been some misunderstanding while searching, and feel the need to ask a real person (not always best).

Because they want a direct, specific answer to their question, and their question only. It's too much work poring through an entire website to answer your own question, and they might actually LEARN something. Too much work for the spoiled 21st century.
That, or they want opinions.

because this is the only way some know how to interact with others.
i have tried to answer many questions with simple google search links.

I think its because people want a specific answer. one that they know is right, and instead trusting one persons blog, they have much more opinions and answers to choose from.

to be social or purposefully annoying, and to avoid the long searches on google as yahoo answers gives a narrower and more precise responses.

I guess they do not know how to do it.
Or are lazy. A third just use it to pass time.
I use it as I like to play the role of a helper.
