Are people counting out the Orlando Magic as a potential NBA champion next season?
I find it funny that no one is putting the defending Eastern Conference champion as a favorite to win the title next season. They came close this year and will get a huge boost with the return of Nelson, if VC can stay healthy he can make that team better than last season and we seen Howard getting better every season. Their bench isn't as bad as people think, Pietrus and Reddick is still there and they can still trade Gortat for another big to backup Howard.
BQ: Buy/Sell Andrew Bynum will be a top 3 center (by position) in the league next season.
BQ2: Buy/Sell Pau Gasol is a top 20 PF of all time?
BQ3: Buy/Sell this question will get 10+ stars?
STAR
Walter name 10 Cs that's going to be better than Bynum next season... you better not put Perkins.
Bynum put up 14 and 8 before his injury and if Odom is gone he will get more playing time to boost his stats.
VC&Nelson&Lewis are all clutch players that can make plays down the stretch and VC is clearly a much more dangerous offensive threat than Hedo.
Warriors: you will get a refund in the form of a BA.

Agreed.
Yes, for some people. In fact, I know several who are counting on the Magic as next season's champs. If they can keep their line-up healthy, they have a bigger chance to proceed to the Finals and maybe even become the champs.
In addition, they have Vince Carter to help them out. Although they have lost several great players, such as Courtney Lee and Rafer Alston, in return they have Vince Carter too give 'em a boost.
I also think this will be a start of a new rivalry for the Lakers... that is if the Lakers can make it themselves and play the Magic in the Finals.
Lakers/Magic rivalry - what do you think?
BQ: Sell. Probably not this upcoming season. I don't know, maybe in a few years to come, but I just don't see him in 'top 3' next season. I wouldn't be surprised if he did though.
BQ2: Buy. It's possible. Considering Pau as not a softy as he was called before.
BQ3: Buy. It just got over 10 stars.

yea everything you said is true they got VC, he'll definitly help the team if he stays healthy and howard is getting better everyseason pietrus isnt bad at all and reddick is getting better and nelson will return back to the lineup.
BUT
they lost hedo turk. who hit a few game winners for the magic last season in the playoffs and regular season.
they also lost alston and lee who were terrific role players
so im counting them out as next season potential nba championship
BQ1: yes buy bynum whenever possible. that kid is going to be future hall of fame no doubt. the only reason his stats doesnt look that great right now is because of all the other great players around him like gasol and kobe. Bynum is not their #1 scoring option and gasol and odom cud rebound like a monster last season.
BQ2: hmmm pau gasol is a great player hands down. but 20PF ALL TIME? i wouldnt be so sure of that...
BQ3: this question is interesting haha havent seen a question thats never been asked...

I agree. Everyone seems to ignore the Magics this coming season and thats just retarded considering they just won the Eastern conference.
Carter is a better and more effective player than Turkoglu, who is EXTREMELY overrated by the media after the playoffs. I swear every time i see Turkoglu play i pray that he doesn't fumble the ball or make a stupid play. And most of the time he still fumbles or makes a stupid play.
Nelson is the forgotten allstar and leader of this team. Despite the common belief, it was usually Nelson who was clutch for the Magic in the 4th quarter.
Lee was a loss, but the Magic got back a good young player in Ryan Anderson. Alston was a one-year rental who was crying about being a backup to Nelson.
BQ: Buy. Sell if you count Duncan at center.
BQ2: Sell.
BQ3: Buy.

The Magic can come close. SK22 will be really happy to see his team in the #1 spot in the east. The Magic have a great bench and starting lineup. VC, Dwight, and Lewis is an All Star 3 right there.
BQ: Buy. Dwight it number 1, then maybe Oden...
BQ2: Sell... All time?!?! You high!?! Gasol is great but 20 PF all time? No way! I've seen far greater Power Forwards than him. Maybe Gasol can be 30 PF all time but not 20.
BQ3: Buy. You reached 10 stars right now! I was the person who gave you 10 stars! You had 9, then I gave u a star right now!

I am. Let's say that Jameer Nelson will play a full season and get better. Dwight Howard polishes his offense. VC accepts being a role player. And this player that probably no one knows how good he can be- Brandon Bass. I'd say the Magic will go 61-21 next season and go back to the NBA Finals.

This is how it goes:
Vince Carter is one guy, Alston, Lee and Turkuglo are 3 talented individuals that carried them through the next level, I would forever doubt Carter could plug-in the holes those three have created. Even with Bass in there, even if they pushed the Mavs back by getting Gortat's services... the main point is they now lack the athleticism that made their way to the finals. And knowing Vince Carter who seem to play without his heart, I don't think they'd be more competitive to the already bulked up Celtics and Cavs this upcoming season.
BQ: Sell.
BQ2: Buy.
BQ3: Buy.
Hope this helps.

The Magic have a good team, and I think most people see them as a title contender. It is Nelson who is underrated, people seem to be forgetting how good he had become before his injury.
BQ: Sell, he won't be top 10.
BQ2: Buy, it is the weakest position.
BQ3: Sell!
EDIT: (My 10 *no particular order* that will do better than Bynum)
1. Dwight Howard
2. Mehmet Okur
3. Chris Kaman
4. Brook Lopez
5. Shaquille O'Neal
6. Andris Biedrins
7. Andrew Bogut
8. Nene
9. Al Jefferson
10. Spencer Hawes
All of those guys looked better than Bynum this year and will next year as well.

It seems like a lot of people are counting out the Magic, but I'm definitely not ready yet to count them out. The East will come down to who ever doesn't get hit by injuries the least.
BQ: Sell, I'm not sold on Bynum's ability to stay heathy.
BQ2: Buy, this guy has to be one of the most smartest players in the league.
BQ3: Buy, I'll Star
- WarriorsLv 51 decade ago
Yes. They lost Turkoglu and Lee and Skip to My Lou, but they still have a strong bench, and VC fills the gap left by Hedo. I don't see any reason why this team can't repeat.
BQ: Gotta Sell MC, You got Howard and Shaq and IMO Biedrins is better than Bynum
BQ2: Eh... sure. Buy.
BQ3: Do I get a refund if I'm wrong?

I really think da magic got better cuz dey now have a healthy nelson and and 4th quarter scorer in vince....I still belive magic give cavs mathcup problems...da cavs didn't get better...dey couldn't stop da pick n roll against dem and now dey have shaq who is really not dat good a pick n roll defender..so I can c da magic vs celtic in the eastern conference championship...
BQ 1.Bynum is a beast when healthy...he has great footwork down low and well clearly get better down da road
BQ2. When gasols career is over and done wit he will be in da top 20 pf of all time
BQ3. Buy
