i am currently in college. im about to finish my associate degree and would like to work as a teachers assistant in the new york city area. how do i go about finding this job and actually getting it.

Just go to the appropriate Human Resources or school administration office and say, "I'd like some information on becoming a teacher's assistant." Then apply.
It wouldn't hurt to use a couple of current local teachers as references.
Sometimes it isn't what you know but who you know that will land the job.

apply at a school board office. you certainly have enough schooling to qualify.
