Does any one have any experience of them, or any thoughts on a horse drawn carriage?

i come from a country family that is heavily involved with horses. my cousin used a horse drawn wedding carriage at her wedding. it was really very beautiful. she pulled up the end of the aisle in the carriage, met her father and then they walked down the aisle. after the vows and kiss were done, the new couple went back down the aisle and got back in the carriage to give them a few minutes alone for the special moment. after they came back the rented the carriage for another hour or so and let all the kids have a ride in the carriage. it was very beautiful. but as already stated, make sure they are well trained horses and adjusted to the area where the ceremony/wedding will be at.so they will be less lightly to be spooked. if your having this in the city but the horses are from the country, they will more likely be scared of all the smells and noises of cars and tons of people. they look libeautifulful draft horses that would add such a unique touch to any wedding. good luck and congrats!

I think that a horse drawn carriage is beautiful, they have very strict rules about them so that it is not cruel to the horse. They have a carriage service in my hometown, and I have seen hundreds of brides riding in a carriage down the streets. Everyone waves, it is really fun. The horses are also very well trained, and not afraid of cars or anything, so I would not worry on that account. The website doesn't look very professional though, so I would call around and see if there are any other services to do comparison shopping.

if they are using work horses, they are more calm and less likely to be spooked, normally if they are offering the horse drawn carriage, their horses are well trained and supervised. My cousin got the horse drawn carriage for his sisters wedding day, it was gorgeous and they didnt have any problems...
Ask them all the questions you have for safety ask how long the driver has been doing this, and they're show horses.... they are pampered to look good and behave well

It relies upon on the place the marriage is happening, i think of. I attended a ceremony that happened at a rustic club form facility that had the bride entering into in a carriage. It became into very elegant and properly gained. yet once you're going the holiday hotel form of direction, it may be somewhat over the precise.

I looked into it for myself and £450 for the short time you get them for just wasn't worth it imo.
That could pay for 10 more guests. A better photographer. A decent band. Another bridesmaid. All the decoration - lots of things that i would consider more important.
Money aside, i think they look nice, but remember that horses aren't toilet trained and a cocked tail, a smelly fart and a huge turd hitting the tarmac isn't my idea of an ideal start to a wedding day.
They always drop one.

I think that it has been done but it does look beautiful, classic beauty. The horses that are trained for this job often have tons of experience and would not "spook easily", it's their job and they are well trained. I would ask to meet the horses before hand and decide if you think they are trained well...ask questions about the training process, in essence ask as many questions as it would take to put your mind at ease.
But I do think it would look beautiful and is definitely worth looking into.
p.s. limo's are "overdone" horse drawn carriage are not as popular anymore and therefore not overdone.

I would never.. ya know Murphy's Law? Anything that can go wrong will go wrong?
That's why.. I've seen too many wedding vids. of the horses getting spooked and running wild or making a turn too sharply and the bride falling out and getting the gown all muddy.
No, I think no huge animals on the wedding day is the best way to go.

It is cruel to the horse. Those people don't treat the horse well at all.
Tell he to get a classic car with a rumble seat. That would be cooler.
Besides if the horse eats a lot of chili before the wedding your daughter might not be too happy.

Kind of tacky. It has been overdone. Classy vintage car would be much better.
