Are they going a bit over the top?

"If you carry a knife you will use it. A lot of people who have died have never carried a knife in their life. If you carry a knife, you're going to kill."

Will this include tradesmen, fishermen and sensible people that just use them as a tool.

Or just the mindless minority?

As potnoodle said. I think the article concerns mainly teens who carry knives for safety/protection/defence not about people who use them as part of their hobbies or work. The point the article is making if these teens are carrying knives and get into conflict then the probability is that they will use them without thought of the consequences.

That's silly nonsense! The majority of people armed never use their weapons. All that is is propaganda trying to take weapons away from people. If you look at the statistics, there is more violent crime in places where the citizens are not allowed to be armed. That's because criminals are more careful if their victims are more likely to be armed. Most criminals are cowards!

I think the statement is aimed at the teenagers who carry knives, not at those who use them in their jobs.

Do fish and vermin count under "kill"?
