How could Utah afford to match Portland's offer to Milsap if they hadn't dealt Boozer?

Did the owner throw in some money from his pocket???

Simple Answer they took out a bank loan. That was the only way they could of matched Portland's offer.

  • No matter how much money another team offers you the team you are already with can match, but it will dent the teams cap space a lot. That is why when the bid gets to high the original team pulls out because they don't have the legit money for him like the other teams do.

I thought the owner had to take out a loan to cover his Guarenteed money right off the bat. atleast that's what i was reading in some of the articles on it.
