Can I register a motorcycle with a bill of sale only and no title in hand?
I'm interested in buying a bike from a friend of mine and it's on a loan so i'm taking over the payments and everything, but there won't be a transfer of title until its paid off. So my question is can I register the motorcycle and insure it under my name without having that title in my hand, since the loan company has it until whenever the loan is paid off and it's sent to my friend and then passed on to me? Or should I just leave it in her name but insure it in my name so if anything happens i'm insuring it? Thanks a lot.

You would be making a big mistake to do what you are thinking about doing. You cannot own the bike while it is still titled in your friends name and while the loan is still in his name. You cannot insure it, register it, license it....The only thing that will become of this is trouble. If you want to do it legal the friend will have to pay it off first. That is THE only smart way to do it.
