Is Obama looking like a fool once again?

Obama has been out pushing his health reforms, and keeps talking about the Mayo clinic being a good model for quality care at lower costs. The Mayo clinic released a statement a couple days ago

"Although there are some positive provisions in the current House Tri-Committee bill – including insurance for all and payment reform demonstration projects – the proposed legislation misses the opportunity to help create higher-quality, more affordable health care for patients. In fact, it will do the opposite.

In general, the proposals under discussion are not patient focused or results oriented. Lawmakers have failed to use a fundamental lever – a change in Medicare payment policy – to help drive necessary improvements in American health care. Unless legislators create payment systems that pay for good patient results at reasonable costs, the promise of transformation in American health care will wither. The real losers will be the citizens of the United States."

Isn't this just like when Obama talked about the stimulus creating jobs at Caterpillar, and then a few days later Caterpillar CEO Jim Owens said that not only would they not be hiring, but in fact they would be laying off workers. They did in fact announce layoffs of 2400 workers shortly thereafter.

Jim Owens was skewered by the media for saying that he was taken aback by Obama's suggestions regarding Caterpillar. The media will get 'experts' on their panels to slice and dice the statement the Mayo Clinic put out, and by the time they are done with their analysis the general public will be reminded that even great medical institutions are subject to being wrong - unlike Obama.

Mayo is right that a change in Medicare payment policy would be a good addition to the house tri-committee bill. This does not reflect badly on Obama, who would probably support such an amendment.

I am trying to figure out when it was that he did not look like a fool.

Now that he pushed through a so called stimulus package and convinced our representatives to all buy into it without reading it. I guess he feels that he is on a roll so now he wants to push through his latest brainstormed idea of government health care.

Of course the same thing has shown to be a disaster in England, Canada, Sweden and other socialistic countries the question is why would our government want to change to a system that has a track record of failure?

Yep. He keeps doing this sort of this sort of thing. You would think he would have one of his people check with those whose name he is using.

I do think healthcare should be reformed but Obamas plan stinks. And this sort of thing can't be done overnight. DC does not work that way. Politics aside contracting out the work to actually make it happen takes a great deal of time.

Plus he is trying to tackle to many issues all at once. And he is trying to jamb everything down everyones throats all at once. Even his own party is tiring of him.

It makes one wonder that if he can't get the little details right what is he missing with the really big things?

I think he is just unqualified for the position. He also has not been at this long enough to have a certain maturity level needed.

People who have been at it long enough understand the inner workings of the government and have formed connections on the hill.

it looks like Obama and the Mayo clinic have an open discussion.

The Mayo clinic thinks that there are "positive provisions" in the "current" bill.

it's clear that the Mayo clinic is saying the bill "misses an opportunity"

I sure Obama as heard that.

My guess is that he Wont ignore them !!

    :)

BTW : your saying Mayo is right and we should ADD-ON to the bill !!

    I agree

He must realize by now that the job of President of the United States was never meant for him. He is in much over his head and he should have never been elected president. Fortunately, many people who voted for Obama last November realize that they made a mistake and aren't going to make the same mistake in the next election.

I don't perceive our president as a fool, especially compared to the last one, but he is a human being like the rest of us, and he makes mistakes, misspeaks, and sometimes just screws up. I don't know whether this was a screw-up, but I do know no one's perfect.
