what is the best way to get rid of fleas?

long story short, my cat died june 30th. I have had an issue with fleas since then (probably had a slight issue before but not quite as bad as i have now)

Last Wed I used two flea bombs in my home (@750 sq feet) and still had a problem. Sunday I vacuumed like crazy, used three cans of flea bomb stuff in my home and I took all of my bedding, blankets and pillows to the laundromat and washed them all in hot water.

Still have fleas, but not quite as bad, but i know that they will reproduce and become a huge issue.

I dont have any more animals at this time, by the way.

I just want to know how I can get rid of the dang fleas. it's bugging me. (no pun intended)

Any suggestions, other than burning down the house?

My Ace hardware store has a liquid concentrate of permethrin. I mix it double strength in a tank sprayer, and spray the carpet and cracks and such in rental property with fleas.

It drys quickly, and does a good job. I don't think I could get them out of the carpet without it.

Used it many times. It kills roaches and ants and spiders too.
