She slammed out of the house without a backward look, his spiteful words like knives stabbing her in the back. Her LIFE was in shreds. She was conscious of the irony of being followed down the drive by the faint echo from her kitchen radio of Louis Armstrong's SONG 'What a Wonderful World'. Why did he choose now to tell her it was all over? And to reveal that he no longer loved her, and was having an affair with her best friend? She climbed into her CAR and with a crash of the gears drove off, tears streaming down her face. To-day she was going to SURPRISE him. To-day she was going to tell him about the baby. A child he had waited for for so long. Now it was over. She drove mindlessly feeling a sense of utter FAILURE and despair. It was too late now. Now he would never get to hear the good news. She drove off into the darkness headed towards the river eager to embrace what FATE had in store.

We used to visit this old cottage in Dorset, years ago. It was reputed to have a servant- girl ghost, who appeared every year on her birthday,.July23rd.Her master's goal was to keep her imprisoned , but she used to sneak out at night to meet a lover.
They hoped to marry, but fate was cruel , and one night she fell into the moat and drowned

The ghost, returned to the house each year on day of what was her birthtday.. with a bit of luck, she would be seen by the people of the house...whom normally. in fright... called the police..... they came and went, seeing nothing, same old song this time very year... they would say.
