Does it make sense to have a long distance relationship with someone you've never met in real life?

I mean, this guy on the internet who I've been talking to and crushing on for a while lives 1500 miles away from me and we've never met irl. He just asked if I wanted to actually be his girlfriend. Does that even make sense? What's the difference between an online crush and an online boyfriend?

Please no answers about cybering.

I wouldn't unless I'd met him in person, and even then I'd be wary of making a long-term commitment under those conditions. Long distance relationships are tough enough when you have a lot of shared history and memories of the person to hang on to while they're not there. Making that effort for someone who might be very different in real life with an indefinite period of time between visits is just too much to ask, IMO.

When people say you are too young for that they are right believe it or not i have been in THREE long distant relationships one was with a guy i met when i was 15 lasted about 4 months then he cheated on me next guy was his friend lived four hours away from me then him and his family moved to Australia (i live in New Zealand) we went out on and off for 2 years and then he eventually left me for another girl when i was 17 i thought he was the love of my life n blah blah blah but it didn't work and i regret that i wasted all that time Now i am in another one! but it is completely different i am 21 years old now and me and this guy have been together for 4 years he moved away last year as he got offered a job in Australia i couldn't go as i had commitments over here but we stayed together its been a year and a half and i see him every three months its made us alot stronger and its good. Another good thing is that i am an adult so i can move to live with him now which i am doing in Jan. So in other words when you are young at school long distance relationships don't work they only work if you have been with the person a while before he/she moved away and can eventually move to be closer to that person. Don't get in a long distance relationship while you are young i really regret it
