I started taking Lexapro and all I do is yawn. Is this a normal side effect?

    Yes, annoying isn`t it? I hated that, because I cry when I yawn.

    Yes, yawning is a normal side effect of lexapro, it should go away within 2 weeks or so. If not, talk to your doctor about it.

    Yes, Lexapro will cause drowsiness for a while. It should wear off the longer you take it.

    A lot of the Lexapro drowsiness depends on when you take it. I found (by experimenting) that the best time for me to take my Lexapro is with dinner. I sleep a lot better at night, and I'm more awake the following day.

    Source(s): I take generic Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning and at lunch, and Lexapro (10 mg) with dinner, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over two years, and it's working very well for me.
