R12/r134a conversion questions?
I just bought an 84 s10 and the previous owner said he put r134a in it and it blew cold for some time, he said he thoguht his moms friend did the conversion but how can i find this out for sure before i add another can of r134a? thank you

Look to see if the service ports on the AC lines are threaded on the outside, or if they have a "rib" on the outside. If the vehicle has been properly retrofitted, the original threaded conectors will have been changed to the quick connect rib. They are different styles for exactly this reason!

If the system was retrofitted there should be a sticker under the hood. If not the service ports will be different sizes. If your friend charged the system with a can of R134a than that is what your system has.

Get a can of compatible fluid. I bought one at a local chain that is good for both R12 and R134/a.
