What make J. F. Quinn the so called expert on the motorcycle clubs?

This is the guy the cops get training Info from when dealing with bikers of all kinds.

Update:

I would also like a 1%ers take on this guy.

Update 2:

JAMES F. QUINN is a Professor and serves as Director of the Addictions program at the University of North Texas. He is a criminologist who has authored more than 25 scholarly articles and five books on topics including sex offending/addiction, gangs, corrections, offender treatment, and the drugs-crime connection. Dr. Quinn has worked with various entities on community participation in corrections, offender reintegration, and criminal justice planning issues. His efforts have been officially commended by the Center for Gang Research, the Texas Legislature, and the Texas Parole division.

Dr. Quinn may no doubt be an expert from the establishments point of view, but unless he has ridden with a bike club for many years, he has only one perspective from which to view them, the way the establishment sees them, and it is surely a less than favorable view. The way that clubs are seen and portrayed by the system will always be negative because clubs consist of individuals who refuse to conform to "THE NORM", whatever the hell that is. Who decides what "THE NORM" is? Them. The system. There are good and bad people in everything. The sad part is that most of them try to hide it. The difference is that bikers, or should I say Clubbers don't try to hide it, what you see is what you get, and common sense should tell you to be forewarned. I have never seen anyone receive anything from a clubber or indeed from a true biker, without first being forewarned. It is my experience that people like Dr. Quinn are usually full of crap, and they pass that crap to people who will believe it.

If he is a just desk jockey and not a true researcher like Harry Hurt, then he can't know any more about the subject than Magz does.

I don't know what he contributes to society since the gang problem is getting worse in Texas, not better. When you start talking about Texas colleges you are also talking about Texas politics so all the commendations in the world won't prevent one ounce of cocaine from crossing the border or keep one child from being killed by a cocalero's bullet.

If cops are going to him for training that explains why they don't know sh!t about motorcyclists.
