Safina in Slovenia? Seriously!?

Is she just desperate to keep her top ranking, and add every lil point against players ranked 40-70 spots below her? No other top player entered this event, which shows yet again where her confidence level actually is. she has yet to beat the top players consistently, mainly The Wiliams Sisters ( Grand slam results show it all ), and she decides to participate in a small tourney as this? Too funny. Thoughts on why you think she is playing there?

I just think she enjoys playing more than practicing, like Jankovic. Honestly, I don't mind top players playing a lot of tourneys. It makes the year more interesting, and I don't see why people are against it. As I was watching the Indianapolis tourney, they were talking about people who used to enter the tournament, like Becker, Sampras, Lendl, and Agassi. This year the top two seeds were Tursunov and Sela, why is that? I think top players are getting lazier as the years go by. They only play Slams, Master/Premier events, and maybe one warm up tourney before the slams. I think Safina and Jankovic and Wozniacki should be commended, as the top players who play the most! The tournaments are there for a reason...to be played. Just because the Williams' and Federer play like, 14 tournaments per year, doesn't mean that's the right thing to do. Even though I'm not particularly a fan of Safina (in fact, I want Voegelle to win the tourney), I respect the time and effort she puts into the WTA.

well, everything has been said and explained by the person above me. it's up to the player if they would like to play every tournaments in the calendar. and besides, small tournaments become more exciting if some of the top players will come and play.
