It all depends on which book you want to read, I suppose.
www.pdfdatabase.com could probably be of some use as well lol

Well this website lets gives u recommendations and lets u read free books and first it asks: I have just finished reading_________ by ________.And then it will find some books that are like the book that u entered in and it will let u read some of the books or it wil say ,"Maybe this isn't the right website 4 u,maybe u can tr this link..." and it will give u link 2 go 2.And the website is bookseer.com

For books written after January 1, 1923, It is only legal if the author or the author's estate gives permission.
For books written before 1923, see Gutenberg. For books written after, check the author's webpage. Most do not give them away for free. Respect that. After all, authors write to make a living. If you read them for free, they get nothing.
Cory Doctorow is one of the few I know that legally allows people to read their books for free.

Go to the library! They have many more things in print than are available online (mostly due to copyright law), and you can legally borrow library books for free.
